| Dear Members: You might have all received Deepavali Program information by now. Many of you, we know, are also getting ready t0 showcase your talents at this event. A CLARIFICATION ON PROGRAM PARTICIPATION Few members have enquired about performing dances to songs from movies. In a past notification, we had mentioned about avoiding enactments of songs or dances from any movies. The intention behind that note was to ensure that the so called 'bollywood dances' are not part of the cultural program segment during Deepavali event. The decision was made mainly due to (i) feedback from members, (ii) ample opportunity provided to members and their children to perform this style of dances during Ugadi celebrations and Youth Nite (iii) and more importantly, provide an opportunity to members to present traditional Deepavali and Kannada Rajyotsava related programs. However, if any of you still wish to enact a relevant song or dance from a movie , then please check with us immediately. So long as they are not performed in the "bollywood style" and they fall under one of the categories mentioned, it should be alright to present them. Again, please check with us first. We are extremely sorry for the confusion that our earlier notification might have caused and earnestly hope that you understand and support our intention and decision to provide quality programs that display and reflect our culture and heritage. | APPLICATION FOR DONATION The Charitable Fund Committee is pleased to announce that effective November 1, 2007, we are accepting applications for distribution of 2007 VKK-CF funds to qualified, non-sectarian, non-political and non-profit organizations in Karnataka. An application form can be downloaded from VKK's website - http://www.vidyaranyakannadakuta.org/ Completed applications, with supporting documents, will need to be received no later than November 22, 2007.
