IMPORTANT NOTICE

Dear Vidyaranya Kannadigas:

  During the VKK General Body Meeting on December 1, 2007, elections were held to elect the President and the members of three Standing Committees (Audit, Election and Charitable Fund) for the year 2008.

  The attached letter from the 2007 Election Committee notifies us that 7 of the 13 members elected to the three Standing Committees have been deemed ineligible for election at that time and, therefore, their election is null and void.  

  Nandish Dhananjaya, who was elected to the Charitable Fund Committee, has since resigned for personal reasons, but has assured us that he will help the organization in anyway he can on a volunteer basis.   

  That leaves us with one vacancy on the Audit Committee, one vacancy on the Election Committee and six vacancies on the Charitable Fund Committee, assuming the General Body accepts Nandish's resignation and wishes to replace his vacancy.

  This is to notify you all that the 2008  Executive Committee is calling for a Special General Body Meeting during our Yugadi Celebrations on April 5, 2008 to elect eight members to the three Standing Committees as mentioned above.  Also during that meeting, 2008 Executive Committee wishes to present the Proposals for Amendments to the VKK Constitution that were originally scheduled to be presented to the 2007 Annual General Body. This was not accomplished then due to lack of time. We have requested    Ramanujam Prasad, who was a member of the 2006-2007 Adhoc Committee to present the Proposals and act as Floor Manager for this project.

  Per VKK Constitution, the members on the ineligible list for the last election, may be eligible to be elected as members of Standing Committees this year and they may be renominated for the same positions.

  Please note that because the Special General Body Meeting will be held on the day of Yugadi function, only those who have paid the annual dues and become members in 2008 will be eligible to vote at that meeting.
