Ugadi (or Yugadi) Celebrations is generally the first regular event organized by Vidyaranya Kannada Kuta. Ugadi marks the beginning of the New Year to Kannadigas worldwide.

The celebrations at Vidyaranya Kannada Kuta begin with Panchanga Shravana followed by various cultural programs. Many of these are related to Ugadi Festival. An after dinner program normally is a musical concert or a Kannada play. The first Sangama issue is released at this event.

Ugadi Event also marks the beginning of the annual membership at Vidyaranya Kannada Kuta. Membership dues should be paid on or before the Ugadi Function of each year. These memberships shall be valid for the calendar year and shall remain valid until Ugadi function of the following year in situations including signing petitions to call special General Body meetings, exercising voting power in special General Body meetings, and admission to special functions, which may be held before the Ugadi function. A person may also become a member of the Kuta after Ugadi function. The membership in such cases shall expire in December of the same year.
