A brief overview of Dasa Day celebrations:

DASA Day event is being conducted every year under the auspices of Vidyaranya Kannada Kuta since 1990s. The main objective of the DASA Day Celebrations is to pay tribute to Purandara Dasa, ‘the Pitamaha of Carnatic Style of Indian Classical Music’, and to all other composers of Karnataka Sangeeta or Karnatak Music as it is normally called.  Another objective is to promote Karnatak Music in Chicago Land area.

DASA Day event offers opportunity to all CARNATIC Music lovers to pay tribute to the great composers. Music Concerts are also part of DASA Day program thus providing music lovers in Chicagoland occasions to enjoy performances by great musicians. Over the years, DASA Day has presented many excellent music concerts by renowned musicians.

A Dasa Day Committee is formed every year to conduct this event. Those interested in either participating or attending this event can contact the members of this committee or Vidyaranya Kannada Kuta.
