COMMUNITY INFORMATION: FREE Medical Clinics and Seminars

The Hindu Mandir of Lake County will be offering FREE Medical Clinics for the Uninsured, Underinsured, and Uninsured Visitors from India every Saturday from 1pm - 3pm starting Saturday, July 21st 2007.  The Medical Clinic will be held on the 2nd Floor of the temple in the Meeting Room next to the Library.

Additionally, the temple will periodically offer FREE Health Seminars/Lectures on various topics of interest.  The first of these Seminars is on "Cancer Prevention" by Dr.Kurup on Saturday, July 21st 2007 at 1pm in the Library on the 2nd Floor of the temple.

Everyone is welcome to join in the lecture and take advantage of this learning opportunity.

CONGRATULATIONS TO SHIKARA DRAMA TROUPE!

SHIKARA, a local Kannada Drama Troupe, has won the third place at the Drama Festival, NATAKA-2007, conducted over the weekend (March 30 - April 1, 2007)

This NATAKA - 07 was organized by Soorya Performing Arts of St. Louis. There were totally nine entries in Kannada, Tamil, Hindi and Gujarati languages. This was a three day event. All the three days were proclaimed by local government as Indian Drama Festival Days. The prizes for in the best drama category were - $1000, $750 and $500 for the first three best dramas. All the participants were given certificates also.

Shikara's experimental play 'Chandrabaavi Estate', which won the third place ($500.00) in this competition, is written and directed by Prakash Hemavathi. The actors included Lakshman Mittur, Datta Ajjampur, Indira Reddy, Mohan Gowda, Sridevi Sudhakar, Shreesha Jay, Kiran Kemmannu and Anupama Mangalavedhe.

Other Shikara presentations include 'tale Danda', 'Chandrabaavi Estate-II', 'Sangya Baalya' and 'Asali Nakali'.

LEARN KANNADA (Kannada Kaliyiri): Jnanabharathi Kannada School now conducts its classes on alternate Sundays at the 95th Street Public Library in Naperville, IL.
